Common reasons patients request an opinion
A neurosurgical assessment may be requested for brain or spinal tumours, disc problems, spinal canal narrowing, head injury, hydrocephalus, seizures or symptoms involving weakness and nerve compression. Not every patient needs surgery; the first purpose of assessment is to understand the condition and appropriate next step.
- Persistent neck or lower-back pain with limb symptoms
- Weakness, numbness or difficulty walking
- Review of brain or spine scans and prior advice
- Follow-up after hospital treatment or surgery
